Preventing the Swine Flu
Since the Swine Flu, H1N1 Influenza, has now been declared an epidemic I felt led to share vital information on how to protect yourself and loved ones using common sense and healthy products.
First, I want to say that I have not had the flu or been sick for over a decade due to using highly effective products such as Young Living’s (YL) that build and maintain a healthy immune system and home environment. I basically eat a diet consisting of a mix of organic foods and typical Amercian fare. Moderation is the key. So you don’t have to be a fanatic and eat weird things you’ve never heard of to be healthy…really.
I believe that being healthy is first and foremost a choice. And it’s very basic and cost effective once you know what to do. You are what you eat, plain and simple, so I purchase fresh organic foods as much as possible to achieve good health, supplementing only when necessary and beneficial.
A very important fact to know is that the majority of your immune system is maintained through your digestive tract. So it is vital that your digestive tract is working properly to stave off harmful bacteria, fungi, and viruses.
When the digestive system is compromised, harmful bacteria and viruses take hold and have a party much like in the movie Animal House. This is usually when the first signs of feeling symptoms of illness start. In addition, nutrients are absorbed through the digestive tract so if it isn’t working properly they cannot absorb to build and replenish the body resulting in lower energy levels. So listen to your body and it will clue you in before the party begins…
With that said, below is the short list of recommendations to optimize your health and thus prevent the Swine Flu from dawning your door step:
- Drink at least 8 – 12 ounce glasses of purified water daily to maintain hydration and flush out harmful toxins. Adding fresh lemons or one drop of YL Lemon oil to each glass also cleanses the body and helps build the immune system.
- Eat yogurt with active cultures daily to provide the digestive system with beneficial bacteria. However, to optimize, build, and restore intestinal health I highly recommend supplementing your diet with 1 capsule of YL’s Life 5 Probiotic right after your evening meal which contains 8 billion active cultures.
